Workshop Overview

The Internet of Things (IoT) is an integral part of various smart cities initiatives where interconnected systems are focused on energy, health IT, transportation, industrial IoT, and retail industries are a significant focus for deployments.

The focus of this workshop is to highlight key global development efforts in the industry that focus on the numerous verticals that IoT addresses ranging from Energy, Healthcare, Logistics, Advanced Manufacturing, Industry4.0, Transportation, to just name a few. The workshop will introduce various IEEE standards currently in development that are related to IoT. The key objective of the workshop is to understand the technology developments that are taking place within the industry and startup communities, as well as to identify key gaps where there is need for collaboration between the communities to develop a common framework. This workshop will also discuss recent enhancements in IEEE 802.

Expected Results and Benefits: The participants would gain a stronger awareness on IoT implementations - architecture and security, and highlight areas of work done by industry and startups, and standards programs within IEEE. Identify experts to join existing IoT working groups and forums, and gap areas that have been highlighted which could be addressed by engaging and participating in these IEEE standards driven by consensus.

Organised by

IEEE Victorian Section is an organisation that is part of a global organisation of 430,000 + volunteers dedicated to advancing technology for humanity.
